Justin Lee Smith, the head of St. Anne’s Episcopal School in Delaware, has been charged with 25 counts of felony dealing in child pornography after a months-long investigation. State police discovered that Smith had been using aliases online to download and distribute explicit videos showing girls as young as 6 being raped. He is currently being held on $625,000 cash bail and faces two to five years in prison on each count if convicted.
Upon Smith’s arrest, he was immediately removed from his position at St. Anne’s and later fired by the school’s board. The school, located in Middletown, has around 300 students in preschool through eighth grade, with tuition for eighth graders amounting to $25,300 annually.
Authorities have stated that there are no known victims affiliated with the school, but are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact the Delaware Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The investigation was sparked by cyber tips and reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, ultimately leading to Smith’s arrest.
