A federal investigation into alleged game-fixing in the NBA has now expanded to include multiple men’s college basketball programs, such as Eastern Michigan, North Carolina A&T, and Mississippi Valley State. North Carolina A&T suspended three players, including top scorers Landon Glasper and Ryan Forrest, for violating team rules, but denied any connection to the gambling probe. However, sources indicate that at least one North Carolina A&T game this season is under investigation for suspicious wagering activity.
In separate incidents, Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan, as well as Wright State, have also been flagged for unusual betting activity, prompting scrutiny from gambling watchdog firms. The list of implicated schools could potentially grow as the investigation progresses at both the federal and NCAA levels.
The investigation also involves former Temple guard Hysier “Fabb” Miller, who was the leading scorer for the team last season. Miller allegedly manipulated his performance in a game against UAB, prompting suspicious betting activity that caught the attention of monitoring services.
Former NBA player Jontay Porter admitted to game-fixing for gambling purposes, leading to at least four arrests connected to his case. Recent incidents include the arrest of Shane Hennen at an airport in Las Vegas and Long Phi “Bruce” Pham in New York City. Additionally, Timothy McCormack of New York and Mahmud Mollah of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, have also been charged in the Porter scheme.
The NCAA has emphasized its commitment to protecting student-athlete well-being and competition integrity, and is working closely with monitoring services to investigate suspicious reports involving game-fixing and gambling. Terry Rozier of the Charlotte Hornets is also under investigation for alleged game manipulation during a 2023 game.
