Hunt Continues for Missing Plane in Alaska Carrying 10 Passengers

A search is underway in Alaska for a Bering Air Caravan flight that went missing on its way from Unalakleet to Nome with 9 passengers and a pilot on board. The plane was reported overdue to Alaska State Troopers, prompting a ground search and Coast Guard notification. Due to weather conditions, limited air operations were possible on Thursday and a C-130 Coast Guard plane with detection equipment was deployed to aid in the search efforts. The exact location of the plane is still unknown, prompting ground crews to cover a 30-mile stretch of the coast from Nome to Topkok. The hope is that the plane is on land, as being in the water is considered the worst-case scenario due to sea ice conditions. The search efforts involve multiple agencies and will continue until the plane is located. Unalakleet, where the flight originated, is a small coastal community while Nome is located around 141 miles to the northwest. Relatives and loved ones are anxiously waiting for news as the search continues.
