In a thrilling start to the 2025 season, the University of South Florida softball team secured two impressive wins over Delaware and Illinois State at the USF Softball Stadium during the USF-Rawlings Invitational. The Bulls dominated their opponents, defeating the Blue Hens 9-1 in six innings and staging a remarkable comeback to secure a 5-3 victory over the Redbirds.
In the first game against Delaware, South Florida’s Olivia Elliott shined with a career-high four hits, leading the Bulls to victory. In the second game against Illinois State, Payton Dixon’s stellar pitching performance earned her 20th career complete game win. Notable achievements included the Bulls’ first six-inning victory since 2023 and Elliot’s impressive four-run game.
Under the leadership of head coach Ken Eriksen, the USF softball program has been a powerhouse in college softball, with 17 NCAA tournament appearances and a trip to the Women’s College World Series in 2012.
