State Auditor to Conduct Review of Port of Wilmington | Delaware Business

The Diamond State Port Corporation, overseeing the Port of Wilmington and a major expansion at Edgemoor, is set to undergo a performance audit, called an “audit engagement” by Delaware State Auditor of Accounts Lydia York. The audit will examine the corporation’s stewardship of hundreds of millions of dollars for the Fiscal Year 2025, aiming to bring more transparency into its operations. This comes as the corporation’s board faces uncertainty due to a dispute over former Governor Bethany Hall-Long’s appointments on her last day in office. The Delaware Supreme Court will determine if the appointments need Senate confirmation or if Governor Matt Meyer’s withdrawal of the nominations is valid. State funds totaling nearly $200 million were recently transferred to the Diamond State Port Corporation for the Edgemoor expansion project. The audit is expected to shed light on the corporation’s financial management and decision-making processes regarding this significant investment in Delaware’s largest single asset.
