Delaware Electric Cooperative Reaches Significant Reliability Goal

Delaware Electric Cooperative (DEC) is celebrating a record-breaking run of reliability, with the past two years showing unprecedented improvements in reliable service to its members. In 2024, DEC achieved its most reliable year ever, with service interruptions dramatically reduced and power restored faster than ever before, exceeding all previous records. The achievement is credited to the dedication and focus of the DEC team in keeping members’ lights on.

Compared to 2023, DEC experienced a 17% reduction in outages and restored power 10% faster in 2024, with an average outage duration of just 61 minutes, well below the national average. DEC’s tree trimming and vegetation management programs were key in reducing outages, particularly in a location prone to severe weather.

DEC President and CEO Rob Book highlighted the importance of reliability and the success of ongoing system upgrades in achieving a new standard of performance. Despite offering the lowest electric rates in Delaware, the cooperative has prioritized improving reliability for its members. For more information, visit delaware.coop.
