Several milkshake products have been recalled after being linked to 11 deaths and numerous illnesses, with many cases occurring in long-term care facilities and hospitals. The recall was initiated by food service company Lyons Magnus after manufacturer Prairie Farms recalled their products. The outbreak has affected 38 people across 21 states, with 27 being hospitalized and 11 deaths reported. Most of the victims were either in long-term care facilities or hospitalized. The FDA was first notified of the Listeria monocytogenes outbreak on Nov. 25, with cases dating back seven years. Symptoms of listeriosis can include fever, muscle aches, and nausea, and can be severe in certain populations. Last year, an infant died and 10 adults became ill in a separate listeria outbreak linked to ready-to-eat meat products. The recall was issued to prevent further illness and ensure the safety of consumers.
