The Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame has announced their Class of 2025, which includes former University of Delaware Athletic Director Edgar Johnson and Delaware’s first high school wrestler to reach 100 wins, Kurt Howell. Johnson, a swimmer turned coach, spent five decades at the University of Delaware, while Howell had a successful wrestling career with four state championships at Newark and an ACC title at Clemson. The other inductees are Robin Adair Harvey, Maxine Fluharty, Jake Bergey, Lenny Brown, Laura Leroy Travis, Ed Stone, and Willy Miranda. They will be honored on May 29 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington. Tickets can be purchased on the DSMHOF website. Harvey was a field hockey star and coach, while Bergey excelled in lacrosse and football. Brown was a basketball standout, Fluharty stood out in field hockey, and Travis had a successful tennis career. Stone, a baseball player, will be honored posthumously. Miranda, who excelled as a baseball and field hockey coach, is known for his over 1,200 wins. The Class of 2025 features a variety of distinguished athletes and coaches who have made significant contributions to the sports community in Delaware.
