Delaware policy-makers and healthcare advocates have joined forces to address the state of healthcare in The First State. Leaders from various medical sectors met with lawmakers at Legislative Hall to unveil an eight-point program aimed at improving the healthcare system. With Delaware being the nation’s 8th-fastest growing state and having the 6th-oldest population, the pressure on the healthcare system is mounting. The agenda includes addressing the healthcare workforce shortage, removing barriers to healthcare, and advocating for adequate reimbursement rates. Organisations such as the Delaware Nurses Association, the Delaware Health Care Facilities Association, and the Delaware Association for Home and Community Care are also part of this collaboration.
House Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown and Representative Valerie Jones Giltner emphasized the importance of coming together to support health workers, provide quality care for patients, and strengthen communities. The goal is to improve outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and enhance the overall quality of life in Delaware. By working collectively, Delaware is taking a proactive step towards creating a more efficient, accessible, and equitable healthcare system for all.
