Everyone is now eligible for the energy efficiency program in Delaware, regardless of income restrictions

Energize Delaware recently announced an expansion of its Home Energy Checkup and Counseling (HEC2) program, which was previously targeted at limited income residents. The program now offers one-hour in-home appointments, installation of energy savings products, and counseling on ways to save energy to all Delawareans, regardless of income.

The program aims to reduce energy consumption, lower utility bills, and make homes more comfortable and efficient. Executive director Drew Slater highlighted that the recent spikes in energy bills led to the decision to open up the program to a wider audience.

Participants in the program receive an average of $240 in direct install measures, including LED lighting, showerheads, outdoor lights, furnace filters, and door sweeps. Slater reported a significant increase in appointments this year, with 228 appointments in January and February alone, and an estimated 300% increase in appointments compared to the previous year.

Those interested in scheduling an appointment can do so through the Energize Delaware website. The program is free for all Delaware residents and aims to help individuals and families save on energy costs while making their homes more energy-efficient. With the expansion of the program, more residents will have access to valuable resources and guidance to improve their household energy efficiency.
