Stony Brook Baseball Comes from Behind to Earn First CAA Victory against Delaware

The Stony Brook baseball team pulled off a remarkable comeback to secure a 6-3 victory over the Delaware Blue Hens in Newark on March 23, their first CAA victory of the season. Trailing 3-0 heading into the sixth inning, the Seawolves rallied with six runs over the final four frames to seal the win.

Pitcher John Rizzo set the tone early by striking out the first three batters of the game, while Luke Szepek made a crucial play to erase a runner at second in the third inning. Delaware took the lead with three runs in the fourth, but Stony Brook fought back in the sixth to tie the game.

Erik Paulsen’s seventh-inning home run gave Stony Brook the lead, while Jacob Pedersen’s strong pitching performance helped secure the victory. Chris Carson and Evan Goforth added insurance runs in the ninth inning, extending the lead to 6-3.

The team will return home to Joe Nathan Field on April 1 to host Iona, with live streaming available on FloBaseball. The victory over Delaware marks a significant milestone for the Seawolves as they continue their quest for success in the CAA.
