The Delaware state government has announced new appointments to key positions in various departments. Cindy Marten has been appointed as the Secretary of Education, bringing with her experience from serving as the superintendent of the San Diego Unified School District. Greg Patterson will serve as the Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, utilizing his background in overseeing federal funding implementation. Shanté Hastings takes on the role of Secretary of the Department of Transportation after serving as DelDOT’s deputy secretary and chief engineer. Michael Smith, the Chief Financial Officer for New Castle County, will now serve as the Secretary of Finance.
Brian Maxwell has been appointed as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, bringing his experience as the chief financial officer for Children & Families First. Don Clifton, the executive director of the Delaware Farm Bureau, will serve as the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture. Matthew Heckles, the regional administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, takes on the role of Director of the State Housing Authority.
Josette Manning continues as the Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Services, with previous experience serving as the secretary for the state Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families. Steven Yeatman will serve as the Secretary of the Department of Services for Children, Youth & Their Families, overseeing child welfare and behavioral health services. Yvonne Anders Gordon, previously with the New Castle County Department of Public Works, has been appointed as the Secretary of the Department of Human Resources. Gregory Lane continues his role as Chief Information Officer for the state, bringing his expertise from previous positions at the state Department of Technology and Information and Chemours.
