The Federal Aviation Administration has grounded New York Helicopter Charter, the company responsible for the sightseeing tour that crashed into the Hudson River last week, killing all six people on board. The agency cited the firing of the company’s director of operations as one of the reasons for the emergency order. The Bell 206 helicopter crashed at 3:17 p.m. on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of Siemens executive Agustín Escobar, his wife, their three children, and pilot Sean Johnson. New York Helicopter Charter had voluntarily stopped flights after the crash, and the investigation into the incident continues. The FAA is also conducting a review of the company’s operations through the Certificate Holder Evaluation Program.
