Community service officer Corporal Steven West stated that the seasonal program provides valuable experience for individuals interested in becoming law enforcement officers. About 80% of seasonal aides eventually go on to join the police academy. One such aide, 22-year-old Damian Alexander, plans to transition to a police academy this fall after gaining life experience and building his character through the seasonal program.
The program allows aides to learn about the police department, improve their credibility, and build a network within the law enforcement community.
