Widener University, in partnership with NBC10 and Telemundo62, recently honored 134 local high school students with High School Leadership Awards. The award program recognizes junior students who demonstrate leadership in their schools and communities by standing up for what is right or making a significant difference. Over the past decade, the university has recognized over 1500 students from schools in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The students recognized this year include individuals from various schools for their remarkable commitment to leadership and their communities.
The winners were invited to an in-person program at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and have the opportunity to receive a $20,000 scholarship if they enroll at Widener University. In other news, the Media Spring Arts Show will feature over 140 exhibitors showcasing original work from local artists in various mediums. Additionally, the St. Francis Players will present “The Wizard of Oz,” and State Rep. Leanne Krueger is hosting a Scam Jam event to educate residents on spotting and preventing scams. Lastly, Open Connections is celebrating 50 years of providing transformative educational experiences, and the Delco Environmental Expo is coming to Rose Tree Park on May 3.
