Transit police in Boston are investigating a shooting that occurred on a subway platform at Harvard University, prompting a shelter-in-place order for students and staff. The suspect, armed with a gun, fired at a targeted individual on the southbound platform at the Harvard Square station before fleeing. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. Authorities rerouted passengers on part of the city’s subway system to shuttle buses as they searched for the suspect. Police were alerted to the incident around 2:15 p.m. and issued a message to the Harvard community advising them to shelter in place until further notice. The busy station is located near the school’s main campus in Cambridge. The message was later removed from Harvard’s website as police continued to search the area.
