Delaware State University’s football team, under the leadership of new coach DeSean Jackson, has announced its 2025 schedule, which includes a home opener against Albany on Sept. 6. The Hornets will also face off against Norfolk State on Nov. 1, coached by Jackson’s former teammate Michael Vick. Other home games include matchups against Bowie State, Southern Connecticut State for homecoming, Howard, and South Carolina State.
Jackson, hired in December to revitalize a program that has had 12 consecutive losing seasons, has added former NFL player Clinton Portis as the team’s running backs coach and run game coordinator. The Hornets will also play away games against teams such as St. Francis, Sacred Heart, Monmouth, North Carolina Central, and Morgan State.
The team’s first game of the season will be against Delaware on Aug. 28, with kickoff times for the rest of the games to be announced. The hiring of Jackson has generated excitement and optimism among fans, who hope for a turnaround in the team’s performance after two challenging seasons.
