University of Delaware Football Announces Future Matchups, Including First Game Against Indiana University
The University of Delaware Football team is gearing up for an exciting future, having announced a historic matchup against Indiana University on September 7, 2030. This will mark Delaware’s first encounter with the Hoosiers, expanding their schedule as they join the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) this season.
With this announcement, Delaware will be facing its eighth power conference opponent, a strategy designed to bolster their program and fund scholarships and travel costs associated with the transition. Although no power conference team has scheduled a game at Delaware’s home turf in Newark, the team has successfully established home-and-home series with several Group of Five schools, including UConn, Coastal Carolina, James Madison, and Buffalo.
Delaware still has two scheduling openings for the 2028 and 2030 seasons, with both of their non-conference games set to be played away. The Blue Hens are actively working to secure an FBS and FCS opponent for home games in Newark during 2025-2027 and 2029.
For fans eager to mark their calendars, upcoming non-conference schedules include:
- 2025: Delaware State, at Colorado, UConn, at Wake Forest
- 2026: Coastal Carolina, at Vanderbilt, Merrimack, at Virginia
- 2027: LIU, at Penn State, James Madison, at UConn
- 2028: at James Madison, at Maryland, TBD, TBD
- 2029: at Pitt, Bucknell, Buffalo, at Coastal Carolina
- 2030: at Buffalo, at Indiana, TBD, TBD
- 2031: James Madison, TBD, TBD, TBD
- 2032: at James Madison, TBD, TBD, TBD
With an ambitious schedule ahead, Blue Hens fans can look forward to thrilling matchups and a continued commitment to elevating Delaware football on the national stage.
