Delaware Football Standouts Sign NFL Free Agent Contracts
Newark, DE – Two University of Delaware football players, quarterback Nolan Henderson and wide receiver Thyrick Pitts, have signed undrafted free agent contracts with NFL teams following the 2023 NFL Draft. Henderson, a Smyrna, Delaware native, had an impressive final season with the Blue Hens, earning All-CAA honors for the second time in his career. He set a UD record with 32 passing touchdowns in 2022 and became the second player in program history to surpass 50 career touchdowns, finishing with 56. Henderson also twice threw for five touchdowns in a game, becoming the first UD quarterback to achieve this feat multiple times. Pitts, a three-time All-CAA selection, had a standout 2022 season, recording 57 receptions for 631 yards and tying for the CAA lead with 10 touchdown catches. He surpassed 2,000 career receiving yards in September 2022 against Hampton, becoming the first Blue Hen since 2013 to achieve this milestone. Pitts finished his UD career among the top 10 in several categories, including receptions (172), receiving yards (2,429), and touchdown catches (23). In Delaware’s playoff game at South Dakota State, he set the program record with a catch in 43 consecutive games, dating back to the 2019 season opener. (bluehens.com)
