Press Release: Community Fair Empowers Justice-Involved Individuals in Delaware

DOVER, DE — The ReEntry Delaware: Community Resource, Employment, & Expungement Fair took place on Friday at Wilmington University’s Dover campus, aiming to support justice-involved individuals, including veterans, in their journeys to reintegration. The event facilitated connections to job opportunities, legal services, and vital resources.

Among the attendees was Charles Wright, a 70-year-old disabled Air Force veteran, who expressed his desire to pursue further education. "I’m interested in coming back to school… even if I have to take one step at a time," he remarked, revealing the event’s significance as a fresh start.

Malone Harmon, founder of ReEntry Delaware, emphasized the importance of community support for those transitioning back into society. "Everyone has a story… we collectively believe that we have a bigger, much more effective support group," he stated, believing in a “no veteran left behind” ethos shaped by his own military experience.

The fair included an expungement clinic, helping attendees understand their eligibility to clear records, thereby reducing barriers to housing and employment. Lisa Minutolo from the Delaware Office of Defense Services highlighted a commitment to long-term success beyond immediate assistance. ReEntry Delaware plans more events to foster continued support.
