Authentic British Fish ‘n’ Chips Shop Opens in Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs has welcomed a taste of Britain with the opening of Codswallop! at 3012 W. Colorado Ave., which officially opened its doors on April 22, after several construction and inspection delays. This new addition to the culinary scene is brought to you by The British Food Group, a team comprised of three Brits and an Irishman: Steve Jones from Macclesfield, David “Nova” Nowakowski from Bradford, marketing co-host of the daytime TV show Loving Living Local, Phil Griffin, an executive chef with a background in Michelin-star kitchens, and Martin Troy from Dublin.
Codswallop! specializes in classic British fish and chips, featuring highlights like wild Atlantic haddock ($19), wild Atlantic cod ($17), and swai fish ($13). Patrons can expect generous portions with golden crispy breading and superior hand-cut fries. The grab-and-go eatery also serves sides like baked beans, slaw, gravy, and mushy peas. For those eager to pair their meal with a drink, showing a receipt from Codswallop! at WestFax Brewing Co. earns customers a discount on their first beer.
In addition to Codswallop!, The British Food Group is set to launch The Brit Pub this summer outside the Switchbacks FC stadium.
Operating hours for Codswallop! are 4-7 p.m. on Wednesdays and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sundays.
