The Berkshire Township Board of Trustees recently met to discuss various issues and developments in the community. One major topic of discussion was a lawsuit filed against the township regarding a zoning change. The trustees approved a resolution authorizing the township to enter into a Consent Decree to settle the lawsuit, despite opposition from some members of the public.
Additionally, the trustees discussed the establishment of a joint recreational district with the City of Sunbury, the closure of the Delaware Public Health District’s Sunbury branch, and ongoing park improvement projects in the township. The Parks Committee has broken ground on a new playground and pavilion, with plans for basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts in the future.
The township is also expanding its maintenance building and has a steering committee for the 36/71 Gateway Enhancement and Zoning Initiative project. Overall, the township is working to address various community needs and enhance the quality of life for residents.
