Colorado is known for its eerie and creepy abandoned places, but according to Business Insider, one site stands out above the rest. The Atlas E. Missile Site in Greeley has been named the eeriest abandoned place in the state, and among the most spooky in the country.

Constructed in 1961 as part of the first multi-stage Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles used during the Cold War, the Atlas E. Missile Site has since been abandoned for more advanced missiles. There are five former Atlas E sites in Colorado, with four in Weld County, and visitors can still see the Missile Silo Park to get a glimpse into these Cold War-era structures.

Located between Greeley, Windsor, and Loveland, the park offers a unique opportunity to explore these once state-of-the-art, now eerie facilities, as well as stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Business Insider also mentions other creepy abandoned places across the country, including Bodie, California, the Nuclear Aircraft Laboratory in Dawson Forest, Georgia, and Tanner’s Hospital in Ely, Minnesota.

For those interested in visiting the Atlas E. Missile Site and taking a tour, more information can be found on Weld County’s website.
