Governor-elect Matt Meyer has announced the formation of Transition Policy Committees as part of the public engagement process leading up to the new administration. The committees will focus on key areas such as education, housing, budget, and public safety. Each committee will hold public meetings to gather feedback from the community on policy initiatives.
The co-chairs of the Transition Policy Committees include prominent figures such as State Sen. Jack Walsh, Sussex County Administrator Todd Lawson, and Lt. Governor-elect Kyle Evans Gay. The committees will work to identify the greatest challenges facing Delaware and offer solutions for creating a state government that delivers results for all Delawareans.
In addition to the policy committees, Meyer has also assembled a Transition Committee leadership team that includes current and incoming federal delegation members, Lt. Governor-elect Kyle Evans Gay, DSU President Tony Allen, and Sussex County Administrator Todd Lawson. The team plans to start hosting meetings this week, with details available on the governor-elect’s transition website.
Meyer has not yet announced a timeline for appointing cabinet secretaries or presenting the recommended budget for FY26. He is set to leave his position as New Castle County Executive on Jan. 7 and will be sworn in as governor on Jan. 21. The public is encouraged to participate in the transition process and provide input on shaping the future of Delaware under the new administration.
