In a recent survey conducted by career.io, young people in Delaware aged 18-25 revealed their preferred university and first employer combinations. The top choice among respondents was the University of Delaware paired with DuPont. Following closely behind were combinations such as Delaware State University with Navient and Goldey-Beacom College with W.L. Gore & Associates.
While there was no clear indication of whether respondents wanted to stay in-state for college or pursue opportunities elsewhere, the survey showed that 63% of the 3,018 participants were willing to leave for a more prestigious school, while 37% preferred to stay closer to home.
The University of Delaware’s strong reputation in research excellence, especially in engineering and the sciences, was cited as a key factor in the appeal of the University of Delaware + DuPont combination. DuPont’s status as a global leader in materials science and biotechnology offers graduates the opportunity to apply their academic expertise to real-world advancements. This connection underscores Delaware’s history of nurturing talent in the fields of science and technology.
