Brian O’Neill, starting offensive tackle for the Minnesota Vikings, returned to Wilmington to coach over 300 kids at the Titus Sports Academy football camp. Growing up in Wilmington, O’Neill participated in numerous sports, which he believes helped build the foundation for his successful football career. He emphasized the positive impact of playing various sports and having great teammates and coaches during his youth.
Joining O’Neill at the camp was his former high school teammate, Troy Reeder, a linebacker for the Los Angeles Rams. The event aimed to provide kids with a positive athletic experience and teach valuable skills. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in offensive line drills with O’Neill, enhancing their football knowledge and skills.
Both O’Neill and Reeder train at Titus when they are back home in Wilmington. Despite facing some challenges, O’Neill is ready for the new NFL season, which will be a transitional year for the Vikings with a new quarterback. O’Neill highlighted the importance of supporting and helping the new quarterback adjust to the team.
Reeder, who won a Super Bowl with the Rams, emphasized the benefits of youth training in improving skills and preparing athletes for success. The camp aimed to inspire kids to continue training and improving their game. O’Neill and Reeder hope that events like this will encourage more kids to pursue training at Titus and ultimately reach their full potential in sports.
