Delaware’s September primary early voting to start on Wednesday

Delaware residents have begun participating in early voting for the upcoming primary election, with sites open from 11am to 7pm daily Wednesday through Saturday. In Kent County, voters have 4 early voting locations to choose from, while Sussex County offers 8 sites and New Castle County provides 6 options. Detailed information on site locations can be found on the Department of Elections website.

Early voting will continue until September 8th, with the primary election taking place on September 10th. Proof of identity is required at the voting sites, with accepted forms including a valid photo ID, utility bill, bank statement, or government document displaying the voter’s address.

The Delaware Supreme Court recently reinstated early voting and permanent absentee voting in June, overturning a previous lower court decision. The court ruled that the plaintiffs in the case did not have standing to bring the challenge forward.

Delaware residents are encouraged to take advantage of early voting to ensure their voices are heard in the primary election. By casting their ballots ahead of time, voters can avoid potential long lines and crowded polling places on Election Day. With a variety of locations available across the state, early voting offers convenience and flexibility for voters to participate in the democratic process.
