New polling data from the University of Delaware’s Center for Political Communication reveals that Democratic candidates are leading in all major statewide races in Delaware ahead of the November General Election. The survey of 400 registered voters in September shows strong support for Democratic candidates, with Vice President Kamala Harris leading the presidential race, Lisa Blunt Rochester leading the U.S. Senate race, Sarah McBride leading the U.S. House race, and Matt Meyer leading the Governor’s race.
Registered Independents in Delaware are also leaning towards Democratic candidates, even in a race with an Independent-backed candidate. The survey shows a significant gender gap in Delaware, with women voters supporting Democrats at higher rates than men. The poll also highlights the importance of key policy issues such as the economy, abortion, and immigration to voters.
In response to the data, the Democratic National Committee announced $15,000 in funding to the Delaware Democratic Party to support the campaigns of Blunt Rochester and McBride. Delaware Democratic Party Chair Betsy Maron expressed gratitude for the investment, stating that it will help in electing a Democratic supermajority in the State House.
Overall, the polling data indicates a clear advantage for Democratic candidates in Delaware, with strong support from Independents and a significant gender gap favoring women voters. As the General Election approaches, these findings could have a significant impact on the outcome of the races in the state.
